A friend of mine asked me whether I gave one of my pieces to anyone for printing this morning. I was very surprised to hear that, because most on my recent works are done for a fan art collection. Then she said she saw somebody selling my prints on a comic exhibition in Taiwan. What the @@? Selling my works somewhere even without my own acknowledge? This is so ridicules.
I'm stating this here since I only posted that piece here. It's not on my Chinese blog, not posted in any forums, nowhere else. It's ONLY on DA. So, you know what I mean. It must be someone visiting Deviant Art who happened to open my page.
I don't know what the situations are like in other countries, but in Asia, it's so common that people sell their fan art prints on comic exhibition, sharing their recreation of those beloved characters. It should be a friendly and hilarious environment, but it's the artists who present their works, or at least give permission to someone else. Selling other's art without saying a word? What happened to their moral sense?
If you are doing fan arts, be sure to keep an eye on it. Don't upload high resolution pictures or add water mark to them. At lease I'm not uploading any printing resolution pictures here anymore. It's such a pity that I never know what'll happen to my poor fan arts.
